New Year Navel Gazing

Ok.  Let’s face it.  The last thing you want to do after the festive is to pour over data about how well your LMS is performing.

But can you think of a better time to assess your training program and how well it’s doing its job?

If you do have an LMS with a reporting functionality, it would be a good idea to review completion data.  How many of your learners went through the training that you provided?

Do the login metrics show a healthy increase?  Or does the trend show a drop-off in participation?

The next question you might want to ask is:  What are the results of those who did go through the training?  If there is an assessment component to your courses, then what are the pass rates?  Are they high, low, or somewhere in between?

Can you improve your assessment tools if pass rates are low?

Then, the money question.  How much did you spend to keep your system going?  Was there much down time when your clients couldn’t access the material?  Is your hosting company performing well?  Are they adding features that can put more zing your system–like social media functionality?

Can you update your content?  Perhaps you want to get the New Year off to a bright start by introducing a new feature in your system that will make everyone’s life easier.   Or you may want to offer a landing page list of new, exciting courses that will be made available in 2016 that shows you were really listening in 2015.

Ask your users for their feedback.  Where can you improve your performance?  Everyone wants to be heard.  You can do this via your internal blog or communication network.  Send out a quick survey before everyone goes to the beach and ask your stakeholders:

  • Are you satisfied with your online training?
  • Where do you think we can improve it?
  • Did you experience any technical glitches when using the system?
  • Is it easy to access the training on your mobile phone?
  • Would you like to see more social media functionality?
  • How often did you access the training?
  • Are you registered for next year?
  • Is everyone who administers the system training the latest ways to use the LMS?

There’s no time like the present to keep the future bright, merry, and full of good cheer. We trust you had a great break and best wishes for a prosperous new year from the My Learning Space team.

We can help you with your year-end assessment of your current LMS and offer you services to better your system.  Thank you for your continued support in 2016.
