Who is the Moodle MEC course for? This program is for those looking to:

  • Become a more accomplished, effective, and quality-focused professional through certification.
  • Improve the quality of their courses and benefit learners directly.
  • Contribute to the quality of their organisation’s education programmes.
  • Collaborate and learn with other Moodle educators.
Yes. MEC is aimed at experienced Moodlers. Candidates are expected to have completed either basic training with a Moodle Partner or the Learn Moodle Basics MOOC, and have some teaching or training experience with Moodle. This is not a learn how to use Moodle course. Please contact us if you or your organisation needs Moodle training.

The MEC program has six courses covering twenty-two key competencies. The six courses include: Professional Engagement, Digital Resources, Teaching and Learning, Assessment, Empowering Learners and Facilitating Learners’ Digital Competence.

The six MEC courses, matching the six groups of competences are asynchronous, online and facilitated by our Moodle Certified Facilitator. In each course, there are quizzes to evaluate each competence, and two writing assignments that give candidates the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned and how Moodle can support their own teaching practice.

One course is delivered per week. There are six courses in the MEC program, so six weeks in total. Each course requires a time commitment of around six hours. Therefore, approximately 36 hours to complete all the activities in the program.

When an MEC course is successfully completed, the candidate receives a badge, and when all six badges are earned, the candidate achieves the Moodle Educator Certificate.

The MEC program fee is AUD 990. This covers the online curriculum and facilitation for all six courses and six badges. Upon successful completion, the candidate will be issued the Moodle Educator Certificate by Moodle HQ.
