Moodle Workplace 5.1 brings a fresh set of improvements designed to make managing learning smoother, smarter, and more intuitive. We’ve pulled together a quick roundup of the features that will make the biggest impact for your organisation.
A Smarter Activity Chooser
Activities are now grouped by purpose (assessment, collaboration, communication, resources, interactive content), making it easier to pick the right tool and helping new course creators get started confidently.

More Flexible AI Tools
AI continues to evolve in Workplace. You now have:
- Course-level and activity-level control of AI tools,
- A new provider option (DeepSeek), and
- Clearer, more helpful AI error messages.
These changes give you more control and transparency when using generative AI features in your site.
Improved Grading Experience
Assignment grading just got easier. You can now resize grader panels and access logs showing which learners downloaded their feedback files — giving you clearer insight into learner engagement.
Powerful Reporting Enhancements
Custom reports gain new filters (including “never accessed”), new report sources, and more flexible chart options. These upgrades make it far easier to surface insights and create meaningful visualisations your team can act on.
Smarter Multi-Tenant Management
Site Administrators can now manage key multi-tenant features including support contacts and mobile app settings from one central place. This means better consistency and less configuration time.
Better Catalogue Control
You can now:
- Hide specific courses from the Catalogue using a course custom field
- Remove course images for a cleaner, text-focused view
These updates keep catalogues simple and purposeful, especially for organisations with large course libraries.

Certificates: Faster Admin & Mobile Access
Need to update a certificate template? You can now bulk-regenerate all issued certificates in one action. Learners can also view and download certificates directly in the mobile app.
